Your participation in the 2012-2013 Annual Fund is one of the best ways to partner with us in mission. The Annual Fund directly benefits all current students by fulfilling our greatest needs of SJA’s educational and spiritual experiences, daily operations, as well as providing tuition assistance to deserving families in these challenging times. Giving to the Annual Fund is easy to do, and there is no gift too big or too small. Each gift is used wisely and compassionately.

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is the school’s yearly program that seeks unrestricted gifts to support ongoing needs. Unrestricted gifts are vitally important because they provide direct support to general operations. Those gifts allow the Academy’s leadership to address high-priority needs, support our families, and go beyond what tuition provides.

Why is the Annual Fund important?
Saint Joseph Academy needs your support. Our Annual Fund is necessary to sustain the life of the school through enriched academic, service and spiritual programs, faculty development and overall operating expenses. Tuition and fees cover only a portion of operating costs. We rely on private support to keep tuition low and enrollment high. All students at the Academy have benefited from the Annual Fund in the past. Continued support will keep Saint Joseph Academy operating at the highest level of excellence the community has come to expect.

Why not just raise tuition rather than solicit gifts?
As a school of the city, Saint Joseph Academy is proud of its wide socio-economic diversity and the rich experiences this provides all of our students. Although raising tuition would generate a certain level of revenue, it will not solve the ongoing needs facing the school. Furthermore, in order to generate the total support necessary, we would have to access each family in excess of $1,600 to cover education costs. All constituencies: alumnae, faculty, staff, parents and friends have an opportunity to support the school at whatever level they feel comfortable.

What is our Goal?
We are setting strong goals for the 2012-2013 academic year (fiscal year is July 1 through June 30). We plan to raise more than $360,000. More importantly, we seek high donor participation. All gifts inspire other donors, and broad-based annual participation plays a major role in encouraging corporate and foundation donors. A gift of any size to the Annual Fund is a vote of confidence in Saint Joseph Academy.

Who is being asked to participate in Annual Giving?
All members of the community who have been impacted by Saint Joseph Academy and support our mission are being asked to give. Our alumnae, faculty, staff, parents, SJA’s Board of Directors and friends have generously supported us the past with Annual Fund gifts. We rely on their continued support every year.

What are employer matching gifts?
Many corporations will match employees’ gifts to the school of their choice. Some companies may double or triple the amount of your gift.
