For 122 years, Saint Joseph Academy has served as a spiritual anchor and a stabilizing force for the Cleveland Community, preparing young women for lives of compassionate leadership and service by providing a rigorous and relevant education, deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition. As the only all-girls Catholic high school in Cleveland, the Saint Joseph Academy experience has had a transformational impact on both our students and their families; empowering young girls to believe in themselves, to grow in their confidence, to unapologetically live their faith, and to challenge themselves to change their destiny.

In 1890, the visionary Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph founded Saint Joseph Academy and in 1928 built the main campus structure as we know it today. They had the foresight to design the building to fulfill the needs of our students for many generations, and it has served our community well. However, while the spirit of the Academy is as strong as ever, the 84-year-old building’s infrastructure is in critical need of repair. All of the utility systems in the building are original and need to be updated, including electrical, heating and fire-suppression systems to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for the young women entrusted in our care.

"We are now at a point where we must educate
our children in what no one knew yesterday,
and prepare our school for what no one knows yet.”
~ Margaret Mead

For these reasons, we are honoring our founding Congregation’s commitment to the young women of our city by taking the steps toward a stronger future with the Expanding Minds ~ Building Futures ~ Raising Leaders Capital Campaign. The $7.8 million campaign will enable the Academy to provide a safer, healthier and more stimulating learning environment for all of our families who want to give the empowering gift of the Saint Joseph Academy experience to their daughters.

To minimize disruption to our academic schedule, the construction will be split between two summers. We will install the new service lines for water, gas, electricity and technology, building the new mechanical and electrical rooms, and transform the cafeteria into a state-of-the-art multipurpose space in 2012. The heating, electrical, security and technology systems will be upgraded throughout the remaining three floors and new technologies will be added to the Academy when the additional dollars are raised.

Help us celebrate our commitment to educating women who will build our communities and change the world and help us ensure the long-term sustainability of Saint Joseph Academy by joining the Expanding Minds ~ Building Futures ~ Raising Leaders Capital Campaign.
