Summer Camps


SJA's 2013 summer camps include many sports and performing arts opportunities! Summer Enrichment Program June 14-29 for girls in grades 7 & 8. This 12-day experience will challenge, inspire and motivate students by providing exposure to academic curriculum in a unique and hands-on fashion. The core subjects of English, math, science and social studies will be emphasized. There will also be daily recreational activities and occasional field trips to explore the real world applications of the academic curriculum.

SPORTS CAMPS

VOLLEYBALL | JUNE 10-13
Develop or improve your volleyball skills through individual and group instruction focusing on proper techniques and team strategy. Camp directed by Mike Mileti, Head Jaguar Volleyball Coach. Please bring a water bottle, knee pads, and appropriate shoes.

Session 1: Girls Grades 4-6 ( 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.) $75
Session 2: Girls Grades 7-8 ( 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.) $75
Session 3: Girls Grade 9 ( 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.) $75

BASKETBALL | JUNE 17-20

Enhance your fundamental basketball skills while competing in fun games, drills, and contests. Camp directed by Maggie Ferrando, Head Basketball Coach. Please bring a water bottle and appropriate shoes.

Session 1: Girls Grades 3-5 ( 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.) $75 
Session 2: Girls Grades 6-9 ( 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.) $75

GOLF | JUNE 17-19

Jaguar Head Coach Joe Battaglia, along with Jaguar golfers, will teach the fundamental skills of golf in a fun environment where each skill level will be improved. You will get better, regardless of your starting point! If you have golf clubs, please bring them to camp along with a water bottle and appropriate shoes.

SOCCER | JUNE 18-20

Keep your existing soccer skills fresh and learn some new ones while having fun with SJA soccer players and Assistant Coach Jim Harter. Please bring a water bottle, soccer ball, shin guards and appropriate shoes.

Girls Grades 2-8 ( 3 - 5 p.m.) $60

CREW | JULY 8-12

This camp, offered by Saint Joseph Academy in partnership with the Cleveland Rowing Foundation, will teach the fundamental skills and basic rules of rowing. The instructor is Russell Eckles, an internationally trained and certified rowing coach. He is a member of the Crew coaching staff of Saint Joseph Academy and Saint Ignatius High School.

Boys & Girls Grades 7-9 ( 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.) $155

CROSS COUNTRY | JULY 15-18 
This camp is designed to help improve the running techniques of runners at all levels. Camp directed by Fred Kieser, Head Jaguar Cross Country Coach, past winner of the Cleveland Marathon and participant in the U.S. Marathon Trials. Please bring a water bottle and appropriate shoes.

Boys & Girls Grades 4-8 ( 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) $75

RUGBY | JULY 22-25 

Under the guidance of the Jaguar back-to-back state champion rugby team and Coach Jaime Barnes, players will learn and improve core fundamentals necessary to be a competitive athlete in rugby. Please bring your own cleats (soccer cleats are permitted), water bottle, and mouth guard.

ACADEMIC / ENRICHMENT CAMPS

SCIENCE | JUNE 17-19
This camp will put the "Phun" in Pysics, the "new" in Renewable and challenge students to think critically. During the 3-day workshop, students will perform hands-on activities relating to renewable energy, physical principles, and solving "CSI" mysteries. The camp is taught by science teacher Ms. Maureen Becker.

THEATRE/MUSIC | GLEE MUSICAL SHOWCASE | JUNE 17-28
Here’s an exciting performing arts camp to showcase girls who love to sing, act and dance!  We have been inspired to combine show choir performance with musical theater while creating a song and dance revue with a contemporary flair in the style of the hit TV show Glee.  This camp is for girls in grades 6, 7 and 8 at all levels of experience.  No audition is required.  Each participant will enjoy honing their performing technique while preparing a show featuring some of the most popular music today mixed with Broadway show tunes.  Participants will receive a Summer Glee 2013 t-shirt as well as a DVD of their public performance.

THEATRE/MUSIC | GLEE JUNIOR | JUNE 17-28
Much like the Summer Glee Musical Theater Showcase for our middle school girls, Summer Glee Junior will feature girls in grades 4 and 5 in a musical theater showcase incorporating Broadway and pop tunes in a song and dance revue created especially for them!!  This camp is for girls at all levels of experience.  No audition is required.  Participants will receive a Summer Glee 2013 T-shirt as well as a DVD of their public performance.

LEADERSHIP| JULY 8 - 19
Change your child's life in a week: SJA, in partnership with the Effective Leadership Academy (ELA), is offering this enriching summer program that will provide your child with valuable, cutting-edge life skills. Campers will engage in fun and interactive team scenarios appropriate for their grade level to help them with problem-solving, goal-setting and leadership skills.
