Applying for Admission

We are thrilled that you are exploring Saint Joseph Academy for your daughter!

Applying for the Class of 2028

To be considered for the incoming Class of 2028, all applications and records are due to the Saint Joseph Academy Admission Office by 3 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024.

In accordance with the Diocesan High School Application Process, Saint Joseph Academy Admission decision letters will be mailed out in February.

Please note that the application process is different for students attending Catholic elementary schools than for students attending private/public middle schools.

Applying from a Catholic Elementary School

  1. Students currently attending Catholic elementary schools follow the Diocese’s policy.
  2. Diocesan grade schools will instruct students how to apply using the Diocese’s online application process in January 2024.
  3. Those interested in attending Saint Joseph Academy must indicate Saint Joseph Academy as their first choice on the application form.
  4. These forms, along with the student’s records, are forwarded to the Saint Joseph Academy Admission Office by the applicant’s school.
  5. Applicants who indicate Saint Joseph Academy as their first-choice high school but are not accepted will be automatically forwarded to their second-choice school.

Applying from a Public or Non-Catholic Private Elementary School

  1. Students from public/private schools need to download the Application for Admission.
  2. The applicant's parent/guardian must download the Records Release Form and forward the form to their daughter's current principal so records may be released to Saint Joseph Academy. Additionally, a teacher's Recommendation Letter is required to be submitted directly to our Admission Office.
  3. Upon receipt of an application, the student's information is reviewed using the same criteria stated above. If acceptance of a particular student is in question, her school may be contacted for a recommendation prior to the final decision.

Transfers

Students interested in transferring to Saint Joseph Academy should complete the Transfer Student Application and forward their school records, including standardized test scores, to the Saint Joseph Academy Admission Office.

Please use our Record Release Form to direct your school records to our Admission Office. This form should be completed and then forwarded to your current school’s principal's office. Additionally, a teacher's Recommendation Letter is required to be submitted directly to our Admission Office.

Once all of these documents have been received, the Director of Admission will advise regarding next steps.

While we are flexible with the transfer application deadline, we recommend that transfer students apply by May 1 for consideration of entering into the academic year that begins in the fall. This timing helps to increase the timeliness of receiving an admission decision, transfer credit information and course registration information.

Please contact the Admission Office at 216.251.4868 for specific information related to credit transfers and course availability.

International Applicants

Saint Joseph Academy welcomes applications from female international students. To begin the initial process and discuss our English proficiency requirements, prospective international students and their families should contact the Global Program Director Mrs. Rebecca Levis at global@sjastudents.org.

International students interested in transferring to Saint Joseph Academy should complete the International Student Application and forward their school records, including standardized test scores, to the Saint Joseph Academy Admission Office.

Please use this Records Release Form to direct your school records to our Admission Office. Applicants should complete this form and then forward it to their current head of school's office. All school records and application materials must be officially translated to English.

Once these documents have been received, the Director of Admission will contact the student to arrange an Admission Interview (Skype interviews are acceptable). If an applicant's first language is not English, the Admission Review Committee will require an adequate level of English proficiency to be determined case-by-case.

Applicants may be required to take a standardized English proficiency exam and/or provide additional information such as course descriptions. The student's application is evaluated by the Admission Committee using the criteria as stated above. While we can make exceptions to the application deadline, we strongly recommend that international transfer students apply by February 1 if they hope to transfer beginning the fall of that year. This will increase the timeliness of receiving an admission decision, transfer credit information, course registration information and the issuance of an I-20 Form.
