Saint Joseph Academy, rooted in the spirituality of the Congregation of St. Joseph, fosters unifying relationships with God and all creation, empowers each young woman to achieve academic excellence and inspires a life of compassionate leadership and service in a global society.

Why All-Girls Matters

Since Saint Joseph Academy’s founding in 1890, the world has made many impressive strides in the rights of women, but there is still much to be done. As part of the vision of our founders and sponsors, the Congregation of St. Joseph, we take a bold step to help young women in Northeast Ohio meet the challenges of a new century in an environment where students can challenge themselves to their highest potential. We take pride in developing each young woman’s unique talents, and we ensure they are supported by strong role models and inspired by their peers. At the Academy, the only all-girls, independent, Catholic high school in the City of Cleveland, it is our mission to bring a quality Catholic education to the 681 students entrusted in our care so they may change the world as compassionate leaders in a global society.

Outcomes of a Saint Joseph Academy Education

Four years of spiritual development enable students to embody the qualities of the “Character of a Saint Joseph Graduate,” a formalization of the philosophy that has guided the Academy since its founding. In the tradition of the Congregation of St. Joseph, the graduate of Saint Joseph Academy is a woman who lives Unifying Love through Empathetic Justice, Service to the Dear Neighbor without Distinction, Personal Integrity and Emerging Wisdom.
