Head Varsity Bowling Coach

Saint Joseph Academy is conducting a search for the head of its girls’ bowling program. The ideal candidate is:

  • An excellent communicator who is detailed, organized and can handle the various administrative responsibilities that come along with directing bowling program
  • Someone who will provide positive and consistent coaching and put SJA student-athletes in the best position to be successful
  • A believer in the importance and value of education-based athletics
Head Coach Responsibilities
  • To be present and personally direct the team at all varsity contests
  • To communicate effectively with the stakeholders of the program throughout the year
  • To assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes
  • To implement necessary off-season activities for the team (i.e. open bowling opportunities)
  • To help plan, support, and implement fundraising efforts for the program
  • To foster among the participants and supporters an appreciation of the value of athletics, a desire to win, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school and community
  • To work with the athletic department on transportation needs, including meeting the requirements for a school van license
  • To work cooperatively with other head athletic coaches in order to operate a well-balanced athletic program
  • To work with GCIBL officials with regards to scheduling and logistics
  • To advise the athletic director as to the preparation of schedules for the season
  • To recommend to the athletic director the type and amount of equipment/supplies needed to conduct the program and to provide for the inventory and care of equipment
  • To organize a system for encouraging students to try out for the team and for the tryout/cut process
  • Attend GCIBL and NCL meetings both pre-season and post season
  • Work with athletic director to ensure compliance with OHSAA, GCIBL and North Coast League requirements
  • To assist the athletic director to ensure that lists of all players eligible for athletic competition have been prepared and maintained under the guidelines of SJA and OHSAA
  • Other duties as assigned
All applicants must have (or be able to quickly obtain) the following certifications:
  • Pupil Activity Permit
  • Lindsay’s Law
  • Virtus Certification
  • Fingerprints/Background check through SJA
  • School van driving license
