“I feel really excited that I won,” Maria shared. “It was quite unexpected but it's still amazing to have my hard work receive some recognition.
The Congressional App Challenge is a program by the U.S. House of Representatives to encourage students to learn coding and pursue computer science careers. Middle and high school students in each congressional district across the United States create an original app for the program. Each member of the U.S. House of Representatives selects one winner from their district.
In April, Maria will travel to Washington, D.C. to present her app at the Capitol. “This issue is really important to me, and I'm looking forward to working on more period poverty projects in the future,” Maria shared.
