Assistant Athletic Director

Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, this position will assist in organizing and administering the athletic program in accordance with state and league rules as well as the athletic philosophy and mission of Saint Joseph Academy. The successful candidate must have demonstrated success as an administrator, instructor or coach, exceptional interpersonal skills and have a commitment to the Catholic education of young women in the tradition of the Congregation of St. Joseph. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Athletic Director in providing the leadership and supervision necessary for ensuring that all athletic personnel follow department policies and procedures and conform to the regulations of Saint Joseph Academy, the North Coast League and the OHSAA
  • In conjunction with the Athletic Director, provide for the operation of home games in all sports; help provide OHSAA-required coverage at away games
  • Represent the athletic department and school leadership through attendance at various games, matches and admission events, such as open houses
  • Manage an inventory of equipment and uniforms for all sports
  • Manage all aspects of the Saint Joseph Academy athletics website including but not limited to updating results, schedules, game recaps, rosters and photos
  • Writing responsibilities including feature stories, season previews, season reviews, etc.
  • Work to find creative ways to market Saint Joseph Academy athletics, including social media and broadcasting
  • Manage the concession stand including inventory, purchasing and staffing
  • Coordinate field preparation with the maintenance department
  • Represent Saint Joseph Academy in all athletic matters at meetings of the North Coast League and the Catholic Alliance
  • Assist the Athletic Director in holding seasonal meetings with the coaches to review/educate with regard to athletic policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the regular upkeep/maintenance of athletic facilities in coordination with approved vendors, maintenance department and Athletic Director
  • Oversee and coordinate summer camps with coaches and Admission Department
  • In conjunction with the head coaches, create team schedules as designated by the Athletic Director
  • Enforce eligibility requirements as contained in the Saint Joseph Academy and OHSAA policies
  • Assist the Athletic Director in the preparation and evaluation of the departmental budget in consultation with coaches, trainer and athletic assistant
  • Attend and participate in OIAAA professional development opportunities
  • Assist the Athletic Director in the performance evaluation process of coaches and specific sports’ programs
  • Support the Athletic Director in developing and implementing a department performance goal setting plan on an annual basis
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with sports media representatives
  • Assist in the preparation for the athletic hall of fame banquet
  • Promote a program of good conduct and sportsmanship on the part of all athletes and coaches
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Saint Joseph Academy Administration
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic administration, communication, marketing or related field
  • Previous professional experience, preferably in a school or office setting; knowledge of athletic programs a plus
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as well as travel to select away games, tournaments
  • Valid pupil activity permit (PAP) or ability to complete the process of obtaining a PAP
