  • Retreats

Retreats are offered to each student, every year. Underclasswomen attend day retreats at the Academy. Juniors and Seniors choose from a variety of day or overnight retreats, including a three-day Kairos retreat, a biking retreat along the Towpath Trail, and a silent retreat.
  • Serve the Dear Neighbor

Students are required to complete 10 hours of service during their freshman and sophomore years and are encouraged, but not required, to continue doing service during their junior and senior years.
  • Service Immersion Trips

Students have the opportunity to “serve the dear neighbor” through service immersion trips to West Virginia, Arizona and the Navajo Nation.
  • Character of a Graduate

Four years of spiritual development enables our students to embody the qualities of the “Character of a Saint Joseph Academy Graduate,” a formalization of the philosophy that has guided the Academy since its founding. In the tradition of the Congregation of St. Joseph, a graduate of Saint Joseph Academy is a woman who lives Unifying Love through Empathetic Justice, Service to the Dear Neighbor without Distinction, Personal Integrity and Emerging Wisdom.
  • Congregation of St. Joseph

Saint Joseph Academy shares in the charism of the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph, whose mission is to “live and work to bring all people into union with God, each other and all of creation. Unity. Reconciliation . . . that all may be one” (John 17:21). A constant throughout the Academy’s history has been the spiritual influence of the founding Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph.
  • Mass & Prayer Services

On Holy Days and other special occasions, students attend Mass in the Academy Center. These all-school Masses celebrate the faith-filled community of Saint Joseph Academy. During free time, students may visit the Holy Family Chapel in the Academy building or the designated areas in Fitzmaurice Hall for reflection and prayer.
