Women's Leadership Symposium

Justice Melody Stewart
This year, the keynote speaker for the 13th annual Women’s Leadership Symposium is Ohio Supreme Court Justice Melody Stewart. She is the first African-American justice to be elected to Ohio’s Supreme Court. With more than 30 years of combined administrative, legal and academic experience, Justice Stewart was named the first African-American woman and the first African-American Democrat elected to the state’s highest court, as well as becoming the first African-American Democrat elected to any statewide office. Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Justice Stewart served on the Eighth District Court of Appeals, elected to an unexpired term in 2006 and twice reelected to full terms. She served as the court’s Administrative Judge in 2013. We look forward to hearing her perspective regarding leadership, as well as learning more about her incredible journey.
