8th Grade Algebra I

Saint Joseph Academy is pleased to offer the Algebra I course to girls who will be enrolled as eighth-grade students in elementary or middle schools during the 2024-2025 school year. Students will be experiencing a high school level class for the 2024-2025 academic year in Algebra I, and upon successful completion, will receive one high school credit in mathematics, which should transfer to any high school. The class will provide math support to students who wish to advance in their math studies, and/or strengthen their math skills before entering high school, in addition to providing extra support to those students struggling with math.

The tuition charge is $325 plus a $25 non-refundable registration fee deposit, for a total of $350. The tuition must be paid in full by Thursday, August 1, 2024.

Please note: If a student withdraws from the class between payment of tuition and September 30, 2024, fifty percent of the tuition will be refunded. If a student withdraws from the class after September 30, 2024, no tuition payment will be refunded.  If, however, for any reason, the course is canceled by Saint Joseph Academy, the registration fee deposit and the tuition payment will be refunded.

If you have any questions, please contact Administrative Assistant Mrs. Leanne Gilgenbach at lgilgenbach@sja1890.org

Purpose: This course is being offered to girls who will be enrolled as eighth-grade students in elementary or middle schools during the 2024-2025 school year. Credit:
Because the course complies with section 3313.603G of the Ohio Revised Code, we are able to award high school credit to those students who successfully complete the course. This credit should be accepted by any high school and should enable the student to begin her second year of high school mathematics as a ninth grader. However, the decision to grant high school credit for the class from schools other than Saint Joseph Academy will depend on the policies of those schools. In addition, at the end of the course, all students are required to take the Ohio Department of Education Algebra I state test at Saint Joseph Academy.

When & Where:
Instruction will take place both in person and through an online program and will be overseen by a licensed Saint Joseph Academy mathematics teacher. Face-to-face classroom time will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7–7:45 a.m. during the school year at Saint Joseph Academy. The start date, calendar, and class details will be sent to registered students during the summer. Students need a TI 84 Plus CE graphing calculator for the class and need to provide their own transportation. There is both a minimum and a maximum class size requirement. Applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
