Preparing for Success in High School and Beyond

Our counselors assist and advocate for students to ensure their success. The School and College Counseling Departments have extensive programs and resources for students, helping them transition from middle school to high school, throughout their high school career, into college and beyond.

School Counseling

Saint Joseph Academy’s School Counseling Programs support all students through addressing academic, career, personal and social skills toward the achievement of quality learning and lifelong success.

The School Counseling Department at Saint Joseph Academy works with the Ninth and Tenth grade classes.

College Counseling

College Counseling facilitates and supports the transition from high school to post-secondary education and/or the workforce for Juniors and Seniors. This includes academic advising, as well as guiding and supporting students and families through the college search and application process. The Department works with students as individuals to understand who they are beyond the classroom and to help them find a college that will provide a challenging, comfortable and safe environment. College Counseling is consistent with and complementary to the mission of the Congregation of St. Joseph -- it values and respects the diversity and individualism of the students and understands that their lives will take them in many directions.

Junior Professional Shadowing

Every year the Junior class experiences prospective careers through the Academy’s Junior Professional Shadowing Program. During this three-day program each student explores her potential career choice with a professional at a company or organization. The hands-on experience helps each student determine if that career is still of interest (or not) as she starts to narrow her college preferences.
