Alumnae Community Receives Prestigious Awards

Our alumnae continue to be living examples of the Character of a Saint Joseph Academy Graduate: women living lives of Unifying Love through Empathetic Justice, Service to the Dear Neighbor without Distinction, Personal Integrity and Emerging Wisdom.
Below are details regarding their well-deserved accomplishments.

Helen Malloy '57 was recently honored with the 2021 Community Service award from Malachi House. Each year, Malachi House honors a person or persons who are making significant contributions to the community through their time, actions, talents and dedication.

Retired Saint Joseph Academy president and Distinguished Alumna Mary Ann Corrigan-Davis '71 (above right) was presented with the Distinguished Educator Award from John Carroll University. The Distinguished Educator Award “…recognizes a member of the education community who exemplifies the Department of Education’s mission: to prepare students to teach and lead for a more just society in schools and other settings.” The award was presented by Margaret Schauer P'17 & '19, Ph.D. and Kathleen Jones '15.

Katie Berry '07 was honored as the Greater Cleveland Basketball Coaches Association District II Assistant Coach of the Year for her role as the assistant basketball coach at Saint Joseph Academy.

Jenea Adams '15 will spend the next three years fully funded as an inaugural University of Pennsylvania Presidential Ph.D. Fellow. “This is an incredible honor, my first major fellowship and something that I will cherish for years to come as I navigate the remainder of my doctoral journey. I'm so excited to join this incredible cohort of interdisciplinary scholars and leaders within the Penn community,” voiced Jenea.

Molly Walsh '15 received a Going the Extra Mile (GEM) award from NBCUniversal Media, LLC. This past winter, she created a demographic worksheet for the NBC Chicago newsroom to reference to ensure their reporting is more diverse and inclusive.

Clare Helmer '17 received Baldwin Wallace University’s Outstanding Senior Award. She graduated this month with a degree in Environmental Science. Clare was nominated by faculty, staff and students for her contributions to the university community in academics, leadership, service and character.
