Alumnae Share Insights at Annual Women’s Leadership Symposium

On February 23, Freshmen and Sophomores gathered for a day filled with inspiring stories and personalized guidance during the Academy’s 15th annual Women’s Leadership Symposium.
The event is designed to connect students with female leaders, many of whom are alumnae, to understand career opportunities and the journeys taken to reach them.

New this year, the speakers presented both in-person and virtually and focused on four different pathways: Engineering & Design, Health Sciences, Global and Business & Entrepreneurship. Students learned about engineering professions including biomedical, structural, mechanical & aerospace; fashion and graphic design; and a range of others such as rocket production, investigative reporting, law enforcement, finance, healthcare, entrepreneurship and more. A special thanks to the following alumnae who took time out of their busy schedules to impart their wisdom, expertise and share encouragement with our students:

Sidney Ruebensaal 14- Fashion Designer
Brianna Dombo 13- Graphic Designer and 2020 “25 Under 35” Honoree
Amanda Durk Frye 05- Rocket Production Manager
Katharine Patton 02- Dietician
Jennafer Dziuba ’12- Police Officer
Jamie Sanchez-Anderson 00- Health and Life Science Consultant
Lisa Hoekenga 00- Structural Engineer
