Distinguished Programs Students Gain Inspiration from NASA Astronauts
Last Friday, 10 students from both the Engineering & Design Honors Program and Global Scholars Program visited the Great Lakes Science Center as part of the Ohio Space Week NASA Discovery Days.
Students attended a small presentation by Northeast Ohio native and NASA astronaut Sunita "Suni" Williams. Williams, who has logged 608 days in space over three missions, spoke about her experiences on the International Space Station. Students also had the chance to meet and chat with Astronaut Doug Wheelock.
Junior Ella Schneider shared the following about the experience, "Going on a field trip to the Great Lakes Science Center to hear Suni Williams speak and learn more about NASA was very inspiring. It allowed me to discover possible careers that I had never even considered before. I also think that learning about Suni and her story inspires young women, like myself, to not set boundaries as to what can you or can’t do because truly anything is possible, even space travel."
Thank you to Engineering & Design Honors Program Coordinator Mr. Robert Zdankiewicz for organizing this unique and inspiring learning opportunity for students!
