“Arts Without Limits” Program at Kent State University Helps Students Explore Art Careers
On Wednesday, October 8, students attended Kent State University’s “Arts Without Limits,” a day-long program focusing on arts entrepreneurship. Students participated in presentations and workshops around Fashion, Art, Theatre, Dance, Music, Visual Communications Design and Marketing/Branding. The purpose of the presentations was to help students understand possible careers and which majors would be best for various career paths.
Madelaine Catacutan '26 shared the following about the field trip, "My favorite part of the field trip was being able to make a collage from old newspapers and magazines. I feel like I was able to find personal meaning in the smallest words in the articles, to the biggest headlines. I enjoyed creating a bridge between words and pictures that had no connection to each other into one piece that represented a greater meaning. This field trip helped me to see the process behind building a career in the art world. I was able to see the different ways an artist can thrive in the world, as well as how to market their art while taking into account what they want to express through their art."
A special thank you to Visual Arts Teacher and Department Chair Mrs. Tammy Sparks for organizing this field trip for career exploration!
