Mr. John Lesko
Department: Math and Pre-Engineering Departments. Mr. Lesko teaches AP® Calculus, Honors Calculus, AP® Computer Science Principles and Topics in Engineering. He is also the moderator for the Film Club.
How long have you been teaching at the Academy: This school year is Mr. Lesko’s 34th year at the Academy.
Why did you want to become a teacher?: “I kind of drifted in that direction after tutoring friends and family and other students throughout high school and college,” Mr. Lesko shared. “I heard ‘you should be a teacher’ so often that I eventually believed it and became a teacher.”
What do you enjoy most about the Academy?: “The students,” Mr. Lesko shared. “They make every day different and enjoyable.”
What is your favorite tradition at the Academy?: Mr. Lesko shared the following, “Walk of the Roses is my favorite tradition. There is something almost magical about walking down Rocky River Drive to the sound of bagpipe music with the entire community lining the street. It's a very cool experience!”
