How long have you been teaching at the Academy?: Mrs. Ising has been teaching at the Academy for 12 years.

Why did you want to become a teacher?: “Initially I trained to be a performer, but I realized that I enjoyed directing/teaching students on the stage rather than perform on it myself,” Mrs. Ising shared. “There is no better feeling than watching your students find themselves onstage and shine.”

What do you enjoy most about the Academy?: “The students and faculty - especially the theater students and the adult production team that I work with for all the shows,” Mrs. Ising shared. “I love the theater community that we have built at SJA.”

What is your favorite tradition at the Academy?: Mrs. Ising shared the following, “My favorite tradition at SJA is the Walk of the Roses. I think it is a meaningful and fun way to send off the Seniors. I love that the community comes out to celebrate our students as well, so it is not just an SJA tradition but a tradition for the whole neighborhood. And who doesn't love being in a parade every year?”
