How long have you been teaching at the Academy?: Mrs. Pleban has been teaching at the Academy for 23 years.

Why did you want to be a teacher?: Mrs. Pleban shared the following, "I didn't--I went to The Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in Visual Communications, also known as graphic design. I wanted to move back to my home area so I took a temporary teaching job at Lorain Catholic High School. I fell in love with teaching graphic design and knew this was going to be my future so I went back to school and got my masters."

What do you enjoy most about the Academy?: "I was an arts kid in high school and I didn't know what kind of creative careers I could go into so I love introducing students to a variety of digital art careers," Mrs. Pleban shared. "For those who aren't going into an art career I get to show them things that they can use in any career like photo correcting, making things stand out visually, composition, color theory, etc."

What is your favorite tradition at the Academy?: "Paws for Pride hallways for sure! Being an art teacher I love seeing the students' creativity," Mrs. Pleban shared.
