Rhain McMichael '27
Accomplishments: Over the summer, Rhain was one of three students to participate in the Academy’s Peru Cultural Exchange program.
“I wanted to participate in the Peru exchange program because I wanted to step outside of what I was used to and experience a different culture firsthand,” Rhain shared. “I was excited to travel somewhere new, meet people from another community and create memories that I could carry with me beyond high school.”
While in Peru, Rhain lived with her host family and attended classes at her host family’s school, Colegio de la Inmaculada. She also visited Machu Picchu, Lima and Cusco. “One experience that really stood out to me was visiting the zoo at my host family’s school, Colegio de la Inmaculada,” Rhain shared. “I thought it was so unique to have a zoo right on a school campus. We were able to see different animals, including capybaras, deer, llamas, and a variety of birds. It was especially interesting to see how the school combines education with conservation and caring for animals.”
Rhain shared the following reflection of her experience, “One of the biggest things I took away from the trip was the importance of being open-minded. Seeing how differently people live and getting to know another culture helped me appreciate perspectives outside of my own. I also became more comfortable adapting to unfamiliar situations.”
Activities at the Academy: Rhain is a member of the Cancer Awareness Club and Film Club. “I enjoy being involved in different parts of school because each club gives me a chance to explore my interests while contributing to the SJA community,” Rhain shared.
What is your favorite part about being a member of the Saint Joseph Academy community?: Rhain shared the following, “My favorite part of being a member of the SJA community is the sense of unity and the relationships I have built throughout high school. There is always someone encouraging you, supporting you, and pushing you to be better than you were before. Being surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you succeed has motivated me to challenge myself, step outside of my comfort zone, and become more confident in who I am. I am grateful to be part of a community that celebrates each other while also encouraging everyone to grow and reach their full potential. I am truly grateful that I chose SJA and for all the people and experiences that have helped shape who I am today.”
Future Career Plans: Rhain is interested in pursuing a career in law.
