Mr. Ilie Morar
Department: World Languages Department. Mr. Morar teaches all French classes, from French 1 to AP French. He is also the moderator of the French Club.
How long have you been at the Academy?: This school year will be Mr. Morar’s 10th year and his 23rd year in education.
Why did you want to become a teacher?: “It is a family tradition,” Mr. Morar shared. “My mother is a retired Biology teacher, my sister is an elementary teacher and my uncle is a retired Math teacher. I followed that path, and luckily, it seems to be the right one for me. Throughout the years, I discovered the patience, pedagogical tact and flexibility needed to work with young learners.”
What do you enjoy most about the Academy?: “I enjoy the moments when the entire community comes together to celebrate Mass,” Mr. Morar shared. “It is comforting to see people with different beliefs and cultural backgrounds, sometimes speaking different languages, sitting together and sharing a moment of unity in spirit.”
What is your favorite tradition at the Academy?: Mr. Morar shared the following, “I very much appreciate the tradition of helping students to approach their high school years as an odyssey, a voyage of self-discovery and character formation. From the Yellow Rose ceremony as a Freshman to the “Walk of the Roses” as a Senior, all students are invited to grow roots, helping them in the bigger journey: life itself. This perspective on the role of education resonates the most with me.”
