Senior Receives Honor in Emerging Artist Exhibition

Willa’s piece is called “Broken But Driven.” She shared the following about her piece: “I had intentions of making the mixed media techniques obvious to the viewer via sections. I knew that mediums give off different feelings and so by splitting them into their own individual portions I gave each the chance to express something different. The overall message of the work is that you are changed by the circumstances around you and, in turn, they start to shape you. By compiling the scene of these intertwining interpretations, I believe I successfully relayed the meaning that you are what you have experienced.”

“This award revealed to me that people can see success in the places that you, yourself, cannot,” Willa shared. “Ironically, I have many personal critiques for this piece and so winning the award showed me that I am too critical of my own work. I am proud to have received this recognition and it means that art is more than "just for fun".”

Congratulations, Willa!
