The Interscholastic Athletics Program at Saint Joseph Academy exists to provide a quality athletics experience for students who demonstrate an elevated level of skill. The opportunity to compete against another school’s program is secondary to the opportunity to learn valuable life skills in a Christian environment. 
At Saint Joseph Academy, there are 13 varsity sports offered. During the 2015-16 school year, nearly 50 percent of our students were a member of one of our sports teams, and 24 percent of our athletes competed in at least two sports. But students were just not active in sports last year - they also excelled academically with an average GPA of 3.63 for student-athletes. 

Here are some highlights from the 2015-16 season:
  • Rugby captured the National Championship title with a win over Summit (CO) High School.
  • Crew JV 8+ finished as silver medalists at the National Regatta.
    • Crew team finished in second place at the 2016 Midwest Championship. 
    • Second place finishes for both the F8+ and the 3V8+ in the 2016 Midwest Championship. 
    • Gold medal finishes by the 2V4+, the J8+ and the N4+ crews in the 2016 Midwest Championship. 
  • Basketball competed in its first District Championship game as a Division I OHSAA program.
  • Cross country runner Sydney Seymour '18 earned All-State Honors with her 16th place finish at States. She also finished first at Districts and second at Regionals.
  • Golfer Alicia Abele '16 was voted Most Valuable Player as a 4-year letter winner.
  • Lacrosse has its inaugural season as a varsity sport in 2016-17.
  • Lacrosse player Ella Calleri '19 was named a McDonald's Student Athlete of the Week for WEWS Newschannel 5
  • Indoor track celebrated its first season as a varsity sport and competed in the Northeast Ohio Indoor Track Conference (NEOITC).
  • Soccer won its post-season OHSAA game with a 7-0 win over Bedford.
  • Softball captured the Sectional Championship with an 8-7 win over Strongsville.
  • Seven swimmers and divers competed at Districts.
  • Tennis player Hannah Schuette '17 tied the school record individual match wins in a season with 21 wins.
  • Track and field team finished 4th at the District meet.
    • Eight members of the team qualified for the Regional meet, five member qualified for the State meet
    • Monica Hahn '16 defended her title as District champion in 300 hurdles.
  • Volleyball captured a District title.
    • The team set a school record with 21 season wins.
