Stop the Hate: Youth Speak Out Contest
Calling all Northeast Ohio 6-12th graders, educators, and parents! The 11th Annual Stop the Hate: Youth Speak Out Contest kicks off with a launch event at the Maltz Museum. Each year students and schools are awarded $100,000 in scholarships and anti-bias education grants by reflecting on real life situations and sharing ways to create a more inclusive community. For 2019 the West Shore Rotary Club will grant $1,500 Rotary Scholarships to Fairview High School, North Olmsted High School, John Marshall High School, and St. Joseph’s Academy graduating seniors who plan to attend a post-secondary college or university. One scholarship per high school.

Michigan State University Scholarship
Michigan State University Wants Ohio Students. Students have the opportunity to receive a minimum of $10,000 through the Michigan State University Ohio Spartan Grant.

This grant is automatically awarded to Ohio residents who are admitted to Michigan State University. The MSU application and required essay is sufficient for awarding consideration.

Grant recipients may also be eligible for additional merit-based scholarships at MSU. Applicants are encouraged to apply by November 1 for maximum scholarship consideration.

BGSU Scholarships
Students admitted to the CoB for Fall 2018 who attend a Faculty Ambassador school are automatically eligible to receive Faculty Ambassador scholarships in October, November and December. The BizBrigade was out in early November presenting lucky students with their $2,000 scholarships.

Twelve more scholarships will be awarded (4 in November @$1500 each, 8 in December @ $1,000 each) to admitted students from Faculty Ambassador schools.

During the 2018-19 academic year, our scholarship funds supported 380 new and returning recipients.    

Most of our awards require residence in Cuyahoga, Lake or Geauga counties, but in some instances, donors identified another geographic area of their choice, within the United States, when they established their scholarship fund. On average, our scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000, and many are renewable for up to four years. Over the past three decades, donors of the Cleveland Foundation have provided more than $54 million in scholarships, and the awards are always in the form of grants that do not have to be repaid.

Knights of Columbus Scholarship
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Council 11464 Knights of Columbus and Global Vocabulary LLC invite your students to apply for the Ferdinand P. Goll Memorial Scholarship. This $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student who is attending a local Catholic high school. Each applicant writes an essay responding to the question, "What a Catholic education means to me?" Additionally, the applicant must provide a detailed list of
church-related, school and community service activities. The winner is selected by a panel of knights and a Gollfamily member.

BP Scholarship (Fluorine Chapter of Iota Sigma Pi)
The Fluorine Chapter of Iota Sigma Pi is pleased to announce the BP Scholarship for young women in their senior year of high school who have demonstrated exceptional promise as future scientists.

The BP Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and participation in scientific organizations and activities. The BP Scholarship recognizes commitment and potential achievement in chemistry, and is awarded to a senior who will enroll at an accredited four‐year college in the State of Ohio, with the intent of becoming a science major.

The recipient is selected by a committee of Fluorine Chapter members, and will receive a non‐renewable $2,000 scholarship and a Certificate of Recognition.

We will be looking for young women with a profound interest in chemistry. Although standardized test scores and transcripts will be considered, we are looking for young women who can convey their commitment to the physical sciences. Therefore, the open response sections of the application will be crucial to the selection process.

At the time of application, the candidate must meet the following criteria:
  • She must be a high school senior.
  • She must have formally applied to an accredited four‐year college or university in Ohio, with the intent of becoming a science major, intending to pursue a scientific career after graduation. (Pre‐med and pre‐pharmacy/pharmacy are excluded.)
  • She must have completed (or is in the process of completing) a minimum of three (3) academic years of laboratory science courses (Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics).
  • She must have completed (or is in the process of completing) a minimum of three (3) academic years of mathematics.
  • She must have an earned overall grade point average equal to or greater than 3.40 (on a 4.00 scale).
  • She must exhibit strong scientific achievement and continued interest in chemistry and mathematics.
Nominations for this award are sought from public, private and parochial high schools located within Ohio. Applications must be received by March 31, 2019.
