Instructional Continuity Starts New Chapter of Learning

Yesterday marked the first full day of classes through Saint Joseph Academy's Instructional Continuity Plan.
We are blessed that a blended learning model has been implemented at the Academy for many years. Students and teachers alike are used to and comfortable working with learning management systems such as Schoology and Google Classroom. Teachers will communicate with students directly to advise which systems their class will utilize to engage in online learning. Click here to learn more about the Instructional Continuity Plan.

Teachers started their first day with a variety of activities. Science Department Chair and teacher Mrs. Valerie Sanfilippo began teaching the very timely Honors Microbiology class. She is recording lectures for students to listen to regarding the spread of disease, the immune system and of course Covid-19 (see photo at right, taken from March 18). Health and Physical Education Department Chair and teacher Mrs. Marilyn McConnell had her Health Education class complete an assignment on drugs using the educational tool Kahoot. Health Sciences Honors Program Coordinator Ms. Erin Hoffert continues to offer wellness events, virtually, including creating DIY face masks. "With the change in routine and different challenges that come with being somewhat confined to our homes, wellness and self-care are really important."
