Introduction to Engineering Class Builds Confidence By Constructing Greenhouses Using Power Tools
As you walk to the back of the Howley Makerspace innovation lab, you will see three large wooden structures coming to life.
In Engineering teacher and Department Chair Mr. Bryce Ormiston’s Introduction to Engineering class, students are reusing plexiglass and wood to create greenhouses for the Academy’s Maintenance team to use for growing flowers that will be planted around campus.
“By making pieces taller than themselves, it builds confidence when creating using power tools,” Mr. Ormiston shared. The students used Math, saws, drills, paint and a little creativity to make their structures.
