Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph Join the Community for Founders’ Day Mass

Last Wednesday, the Saint Joseph Academy community came together in the Academy Center for a Mass to celebrate Founders’ Day, which takes place annually around the founding date of October 15. During the Mass, the community had the pleasure of hearing from a special guest, Sister Christine Schenk, CSJ.
The Congregation of St. Joseph was founded in 1650 in the small village of Le Puy, France. At that time, the French countryside was suffering from war, illness, poverty, and social divisions. Six women, along with their spiritual mentor, Father Jean-Pierre Médaille, S.J., came together to establish a new religious order dedicated to actively addressing the needs of those around them. Unlike most women’s religious communities of the era, which were confined to convents and isolated from the outside world, this group sought to engage with and meet the needs of the people in their community. By uniting their deep love for God with their compassion for their neighbors, the first Sisters and their Associates became pioneers in the history of religious life through their commitment to an apostolic ministry for women.

Thank you to our sponsors, the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph. The entire Saint Joseph Academy community is grateful for your continued support, spiritual guidance and prayers.
