Ellen Camardo '29

Accomplishments: Ellen was one of several Saint Joseph Academy students who attended the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis on November 21. During the conference, Pope Leo XIV participated in a 45-minute dialogue with attendees, which was also shared around the world.
“I was offered the chance to deepen my faith surrounded by other Catholic teenagers,” Ellen shared. “This opportunity meant a lot to me because I am a huge fan of Pope Leo.”

Ellen shared the following reflection from her experience: “Something that really stuck with me was when Pope Leo said, 'You are not only the future of the Church, you are the present.' This was meaningful to me because I feel that people sometimes assume that teenagers don't really care about their faith or they don't understand what they're talking about, but Pope Leo said we matter and our voice matters, and we can make a difference in the world right now. We don't have to wait until we're adults.”

In addition to having a meaningful and fun experience, Ellen also met new people from all over the United States.

Activities and Interests: At Saint Joseph Academy, Ellen is a member of the Academic Jaguars, The Academy Chorale, Book Club and Music Ministry.

What is your favorite part about being a member of the Saint Joseph Academy community?: Ellen shared the following, “My favorite part about being in the Saint Joseph Academy community is how kind and supportive everyone is. Whenever you have a question or a problem, you can ask anyone, and they'll either answer it or direct you to someone who can.”
