On Saturday, the Jags took on the Hathaway Brown Blazers. The Jags entered the game with a 5-2 season record and a rank of 18th in the most recent Plain Dealer poll while the Blazers entered with a 5-3 record and a rank of 8th.
The Jaguars were led by junior guard Gia DiMassa who entered the game averaging 13.0 points per game in her last two.  She kept the streak up during the game, scoring a total of 22 points, 15 of which were three-point baskets. It helped give the Jaguars a 53-42 win over the Blazers.

The first quarter started off tight, but the Jags quickly broke away which gave them a lead they would never relinquish. Ellen Vichill and Rachael Kean both connected on three pointers with Claire Orsagos and Molly Dever contribued to give the Jaguars a 16-7 lead after one quarter.

DiMassa hit double-digits with her scoring in the third quarter as she added three more three-pointers to the team’s score. Colleen Neitzel and Dever also scored, contributing 4 and 3 points, respectively. The fourth quarter saw the score creep closer, as the Blazers pulled tighter to the Jags’ lead. However, the Jags refused to cave. In the last couple minutes of the game, a six-point run by Orsagos and DiMassa blew the game back open, securing the Jags their victory.

When asked about DiMassa’s domination on the court, Head Coach Maggie Ferrando had high praises the Jags’ top-scorer of the game. “She had a great game. It was nice to get her going because she kept us in it offensively. She had a amazing hot hand today.”
