Preparing for Success in High School and Beyond

Our counselors assist and advocate for students to ensure their success. The Counseling Department has extensive programs and resources for students helping them transition from middle school to high school, throughout their high school career, into college and beyond.
Counselors provide individualized guidance to students through the following:
  • Meeting 1:1 with each student at least two times per year and as needed to address academic, social and/ or personal concerns
  • Interacting with students through classroom lessons, small group meetings as well as grade level large group sessions
  • Advocating for students through effective collaboration with parents, faculty, administration, and the Student Support Services Department
Students may access their counselors throughout the school day utilizing our department’s Open Door Policy.

School Counseling

Guided by the charism of the Congregation of St Joseph's commitment to unifying relationships, the mission of the School Counseling Program is to support the spiritual, academic, social and emotional development of each student. In particular, school counselors foster the development of each student's commitment to personal integrity, service to the dear neighbor, empathetic justice and wisdom.

The School Counseling team at Saint Joseph Academy works with the ninth and tenth grade classes.

College Counseling

The College Counseling team facilitates and supports the transition from high school to post-secondary education and/or the workforce for Juniors and Seniors. This includes academic advising, as well as guiding and supporting students and families through the college search and application process. College Counselors work with students as individuals to understand who they are beyond the classroom and to help them find a college that will provide a challenging, comfortable and safe environment. College Counseling is consistent with and complementary to the mission of the Congregation of St. Joseph -- it values and respects the diversity and individualism of the students and understands that their lives will take them in many directions.
