The Class of 2027 logged over 1,700 hours, with 66% participating.
The Class of 2026 contributed about 1,800 hours, with 56% of the class involved.
These hours are more than just numbers; they represent human connection, compassion, and growth. Our students engage directly with marginalized communities, including older adults, children from under-resourced neighborhoods, people experiencing homelessness, immigrants and refugees and individuals with disabilities. In every service setting, students are encouraged not only to help but to listen, learn and develop empathy. Through required reflection, students take time to consider what their service has revealed about others, themselves and the world.
One Freshman shared her experience at the St. Colman’s Neighborhood Saturday Meal: “I realized how much dignity comes from being seen and remembered. Simply listening made a difference. Because of this experience, I will be more intentional about noticing people who are often overlooked.” A Senior reflected on Providence House’s “Deck the House” event, noting, “I learned that justice doesn’t always happen face-to-face. Planning, fundraising, and teamwork are acts of compassion that make long-term support possible.”
As we begin a new year, we celebrate our students’ dedication and growth, not only in knowledge but also in responsibility and love of the dear neighbor. May we continue working together to support our students' journey of making a difference, one hour at a time!
