Academy Represented at Cleveland Council on World Affairs’ Global Impact Award Event
In November, Social Students Teacher and Department Chair Ms. Lisa Lesh and Marin Petti ’27 spoke at this year’s Cleveland Council on World Affairs’ (CCWA) Global Impact Award event.
The CCWA’s Global Impact Award event celebrates the organization’s mission of “fostering public dialogue on international issues, delivering global education programming and hosting public diplomacy efforts.”
Ms. Lesh and Marin were asked to speak about CCWA’s school-based programs and how they have impacted students at the Academy.
"It was such a huge honor to have been selected to speak for such a unique event and especially with a program I have been so involved with during my high school career," Marin shared. "My favorite part of this event was getting to meet former CIA director and career diplomat William J. Burns. When he spoke, he provided many interesting anecdotes about what it was like to act as a diplomat within countries like Russia. He even talked with me about his own experience participating in Model UN in high school."
