Yunielis Vargas Rivera '27
Accomplishments: Yunielis is one of 20 high school students selected to participate in the Cleveland Cavaliers Social Impact Academy.
The mission of the Cavaliers Social Impact Academy is to “empower the next generation of leaders to become innovative and compassionate changemakers dedicated to building a more just, sustainable, and inclusive community.”
“I wanted to participate in the Cleveland Cavaliers Social Impact Academy to strengthen my leadership skills and deepen my knowledge on concepts like civic engagement, the importance of volunteering and more,” shared Yunielis. The academy began in September and runs May, meeting once a month.
Yunielis shared what she has learned through participating in the academy: “I have learned the importance and true meaning of DEI, how the Cleveland Cavalier Executive Leadership team truly values community and lastly, the impact you can make no matter your age.”

Activities and Interests: At Saint Joseph Academy, Yunielis is a member of the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy and the Marketing Group Leader for the group, a leadership team member for both the Cooking Club and Diversity Council, a member of the Health Science Honors Program (HSHP) and within HSHP, a leadership team member of Media Outreach, a Math Lab Tutor and an Our Lady of Angels (OLA) Math Tutor.
Yunielis also shared the following: “Outside of school, I am the founder of my passion project called My Voice My Care, which aims to spread health literacy resources throughout the United States.”
What is your favorite part about being a member of the Saint Joseph Academy community?: “My favorite part about being a member at Saint Joseph Academy would be the community and how supportive everyone is,” Yunielis shared.
Future Career Plans: Yunielis plans to major in Biology and pursue a pre-med track.
