Why did you want to be a teacher?: Mrs. Actis shared the following, “I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. My mom is a huge role model for me as an educator, and I also have a strong passion for sports. I played several in high school and continued playing volleyball in college, so becoming a Health and Physical Education teacher felt like the perfect way to combine both of those passions.”

What do you enjoy most about the Academy?: “I really enjoy the kindness shown throughout the SJA community, among students and to the staff,” Mrs. Actis shared. “We have such genuinely nice, hardworking girls who support one another and take pride in what they do. I also love the relationships I get to build with the girls I work with in my clubs and athletics. It’s so rewarding to see them grow as leaders, teammates and individuals.”

What is your favorite tradition at the Academy?: Mrs. Actis shared the following: “My favorite traditions at SJA are the "Walk of the Roses" and the Yellow Rose Ceremony for new students. It’s such a meaningful and welcoming experience that really shows the strong sense of sisterhood and community at SJA.”
