Sarah Kolick ’15 representing the Congregation of St. Joseph at U.N. Conference

Sarah Kolick ’15 (daughter of Mary Smetana Kolick ’83) was one of two young adults who attended the United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women on March 14-25, 2022, along with members of the Congregation of St. Joseph’s Peace & Justice team.
Each year, the Congregation invites a select group of young people (ages 21-35) to represent and work with the Sisters at one of several UN conferences.

After graduating from Saint Joseph Academy, Sarah completed a degree in East Asian Languages and Government from Smith College. She will graduate from George Washington School of Law in May 2022 and plans to work at Cleveland Legal Aid as an Elder Justice Lawyer (an advocate for those experiencing abuse or violence later in life) upon completing her degree. She is currently working as a legal intern at Amara Legal Center in D.C., which specializes in assisting clients who have been victimized by commercial sex work (sex trafficking).

Sarah and other participants in the Commission meetings will present their experience and learnings to the Congregation of St. Joseph and others who are interested via Zoom later this spring.
