Enchanting and Exciting Spring Musical Cinderella (Enchanted Edition)

The Saint Joseph Academy theater program returned to full-capacity seating just in time for its spring musical, Cinderella (Enchanted Edition).
Friends, families and alumnae were excited to see the production, which ran the first two weekends in April, and was brought to life by Drama Director Mrs. Anne Ising.

Sophie O’Leary ’23 played the title role in the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic. The Enchanted Edition is a more contemporary retelling of the timeless story that introduces heartwarming humor and includes a stronger female protagonist.

“I always love being able to play any character, but this one feels particularly special for me since I grew up with the story of Cinderella,” Sophie said. “She’s such an iconic character and I’m so grateful and excited to have the opportunity to play her.”

Sophie explained it has been so fun to work with all of the other talented cast and crew involved in this production and to make new friends. Everyone worked extremely hard to make the show truly come to life, and was the result of students, faculty and alumnae working together. The set included quintessential fairy tale elements and was constructed by the talented stage crew led by Technical Director/Set Designer Angela Detrick ’98 and Assistant Technical Director Kate Valentino O’Dell ’08.

The performances were held in the Saint Joseph Academy auditorium, with all six shows being sold out.
