Nurturing Spiritual Growth Through Worship, Learning and Fellowship

We are committed to fostering the spiritual development of young individuals within a supportive and enriching environment. Our comprehensive ministry programs are designed to guide students in cultivating a deeper understanding of their faith through worship, prayer, reflection and community engagement. We strive to provide a foundation of strong moral values and meaningful relationships that will support growth both spiritually and personally.

  • Theology Courses

Students take four semesters of Theology classes during their time at SJA, in which they learn about the Bible and the history of the Church, as well as the mystery of Christ's Passion and Resurrection, the Sacraments, and Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Each academic year, members of the senior class are commissioned to serve as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion. Throughout the school year, these seniors help with the distribution of Holy Communion during our all-school liturgies.
  • Mass & Prayer Services

On Holy Days of Obligation and other special occasions, students attend Mass in the Academy Center. These all-school Masses celebrate the faith-filled community of Saint Joseph Academy. During free time, students may visit the Holy Family Chapel in the Academy building or the designated areas in Fitzmaurice Hall for reflection and prayer.
  • Retreats

Retreats are offered to each student, every year. Underclasswomen attend day retreats at the Academy. Juniors and Seniors choose from a variety of day or overnight retreats, including a three-day Kairos retreat, a biking retreat along the Towpath Trail and a silent retreat.
  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a group open to all Saint Joseph Academy students.  FCA’s mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. One way that we endeavor to accomplish this goal is to get FCA Huddle groups in our local area schools. These are student-led groups that meet for Bible Studies, devotions, and fellowship to grow in their faith as well as introduce their fellow athletes to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Liturgical Ministries

Each academic year, students in all classes may participate in liturgies as lectors, servers, and through music ministry.
